The MK VI series of saxophones are considered to be the best saxophones ever made. They were produced between 1954 – 1974, and through this time the designs and techniques used were developed. However, the earlier models are still considered to be their finest instruments in terms of tone, playability, and design.
This particular saxophone was manufactured in 1965, so it has a 6-digit serial number: 12####. The 6-digit MK VI Selmer Saxophones are still very sought-after instruments in the professional world of players. They have a lovely “dark” tone when played.
This tenor was recently completely overhauled by our technicians, and is in superb condition despite it being from the mid 60’s. It of course has signs of wear consummate of its age but it remains a fine example of these impressive instruments.
