Fox Model I Bassoon (2nd Hand)

This beautiful Fox model I bassoon started life out as a model II. In 1997 it was returned to the Fox factory for a complete refurbishment and overhaul whereby the keywork was replaced to rollers and additions of the RH Eb trill key, high E key & D flick were completed as well as the tone hole liners being updated to name just a few alterations that all lead up to the the bassoon being reborn as a model I. 

The bassoon sports two serial numbers unusually, but we do know that both the wing joint and the boot joint left the factory at the same time and were sent to the same retail store and so we can only surmise that when they arrived at their destination the joints of the two bassoons were switched either intentionally or accidentally. However this does not appear to hamper the instrument in anyway.

In 2014 the bassoon was returned to the Fox factory once more to receive a full overhaul and at this point the wing joint tenon cap was upgraded, work was carried out on the A, Bb and F# tone holes. As you would expect with an overhaul all of the pads were replaced, the bore was oiled and any minor adjustments needed were carried out. It also had a tuning check by Chip Owen.

Since then the bassoon has been kept in top playing condition with a silver balance hanger being added and has been fully serviced by Howarth of London within the past few months.

The bassoon also comes with two crooks, a Fox CVX2 & a Nissen 2. The outfit is completed in a Kobl bassoon case which has two bocal pouches with both shoulder straps and a side strap. Accessories also included are Kobl microfibre swabs and a Fox polishing cloth.
